Throughout India, but especially at St Simon School, eggs are considered a special and valuable food. They are treated almost as a luxury, and serving egg curry is seen as a way of showing care and generosity towards others. Twice a week, the school provides egg curry for the children, and it is always a much-anticipated meal.

Whenever egg curry is on the menu, the children are delighted. The excitement is clear as they gather, eager to enjoy one of their favourite dishes. Each week, the school brings in around 800 eggs, carefully sourced from a nearby town to ensure a steady supply and local support..

Over Easter (2026) we hid a few of these beautiful eggs throughout our site and invited visitors to guess how many. A total of 20 were hidden in the most trickiest of places. We thank all who sent us their guesses and although many got close, no-one guessed correctly, so next time we might have to make it easier.
